Honors Band Festival
12th ANNUAL UIC HONORS grupp FESTIVAL
We are hosting the 12th Annual UIC Honors Band Festival on November 1-3, 2024 at the UIC School of Theatre & Music and UIC Student Center East. This year, we are excited to welcome guest dirigent and composer Carol Brittin Chambers from Texas Lutheran University to lead the UIC Honors Band. Her full bio can be found below.
The UIC Honors Band Festival brings tillsammans top high school students from the greater-Chicago distrikt for an engaging weekend of musical collaboration culminating in a concert performance. During the festival, students will work with a distinguished guest conductor, attend a performance from UIC Ensembles, participate in a masterclass with UIC performance faculty, and perform in a shared final concert with the UIC Wind Ensemble. Students must be nominated bygd their high school grupp director or private lektion instructor to be eligible to participate.

E. Hood Dawson III
Biography
Hood Dawson is an associate in the firm’s Greenville, South Carolina, office. His civil litigation practice includes premises liability, insurance law, commercial litigation, products liability, and general negligence in state and federal courts.
Hood graduated from The University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He then received his Juris Doctor from the West Virginia University College of Law. During law school, he served as a student editor of the West Virginia Law Review. He also served as a student attorney for indigent individuals in the community, representing clients in matters including construction defect, adoption, and preparation of wills.
Prior to joining Gallivan, White & Boyd, Hood clerked for the Honorable Edward W. Miller in the circuit court in Greenville. He then worked for the Public Defender Offices in Greenville and Lexington, South Carolina. Following his time in public service, Hood has been practicing

Jay Coble
Jay Coble is Professor of Trumpet at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. He earned a doctorate (DMA) from the University of Southern California, a master's degree from Indiana University, and an undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University. His teachers have been William Adam, Joe Phelps, Roy Poper, and Boyde Hood.
Prior to coming to USF, he was a freelance trumpet artist in the Los Angeles area recording for television shows, movies, commercials and CDs. He has previously toured North America with the Buddy Rich Band, and worldwide with singer Tom Jones.
Jay is active in the Tampa Bay area, performing as Principal Trumpet for Opera Tampa since 2004, and performing as lead trumpet on touring Broadway productions at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. He also performs regularly with the Florida Orchestra and the Sarasota Orchestra.
