I’m a huge fan of biographies.
The last one I read was Francis Ford Coppola. I loved it. It was not only extremely revealing but as a filmmaker and director also I felt I could relate to his rule-breaking. It gave me the lesson that this was an okay way to approach writing and making films.
Before that I had finished Friedrich Nietzsche’s biography and what a fascinating read that was, but it wasn’t well written.
I have just looked on my pretty big bookshelf to see how many biographies I have and honestly, there are far too many to write here.
And recently my old father asked me, “Alan, should I write a biography?” I wish he would because there is so much I really don’t know about his life that I would love to know.
