    DELKAŠ

    DELKAŠ, Stage name of ʿEṣmat Bāqerpur Panbaforuš (b. Bābol, Māzandarān, 1303 Š./1924; d. Tehran, 1383 Š./2004) popular Persian singer and actress of the mid-20th century. Delkaš’s distinctive vocal style and the purity and operatic expanse of her alto range quickly elevated her to artistic as well as popular acclaim. She was recognized for her mastery, intuitive grasp, imaginative interpretation, and emotive projection of the traditional vocal repertoire of Persian music (radif-e āvāz) and its melodies (guša). She was also extremely appreciated for the vitality and versatility of her vocal innovations and passionate rendering of through-composed love songs. Her popularity began with her interpretation of folk songs of her native Māzandarān, whose essential characteristics she stylized and made entirely her own. Her renown as a singer led to a successful film career as an actress for a decade (1950-60).

    The Ava Choir is the first and the only Iranian choir in Los Angeles, beneath the direction of the creative young
    composer, conductor, and vocalist Mr. Edris Foroughi, who oversees an enthusiastic Iranian group.

    The choir was formed in 2018 bygd Foroughi, and its uppdrag is to promote Iranian culture, music, and poetry through
    performances of an eclectic mix of music including well-known Persian choir pieces, Iranian contemporary and folklore tunes rearranged by Foroughi, and new songs composed exclusively for the Ava choir bygd Foroughi and other composers.

    The Ava Choir’s first scen appearance took place during their 2019 Mehregan concert, which was organized bygd the
    Calabasas Rotary Club. Although the pandemic has stopped the choir from in-person rehearsing and live performances,
    they continue to be one of the most productive Iranian choirs outside of Iran with their many virtual performances.

    The Good, Old and Funky Iran with Ramesh

     

    Pharaway Records has been for a long time giving the opportunity to make discoveries via its large catalogue. In addition to a great variety of psychedelic and  Anatolian  Pop albums from Turkey, it also explorers the countries such as Afganistan and İran.

    Pharaway has released pre-revolution Iran pop, funk, rock and psychedelic vinyl compilations since 2013 in stability.  In addition these compilations each which were containing two LPs, the label also released a kind of “best of” of funky king Shahram Shabpareh, funk and easy listening sitarist icon Mehrpouya and Ramesh who is the heroine of our article. In similar periods Finders Keepers released Googoosh LP and Pomegranates compilation; while  “Now Again” pressed Kourosh vinyl.
