As a young man in his twenties with an insatiable thirst for money and power, Jorge Valdes was a founding member of a group that became known as Colombia's Medellin drug cartel at the age of twenty-one, making over a million dollars a month. His key position as head of all U.S. operations brought him into direct contact with presidents, generals, Hollywood celebrities, and hired killers. This Cuban immigrant, raised in poverty, was living the high life in more ways than one. His deeds took him from the lap of luxury to the depths of prison and back again. Then an incredible thing happened: Jorge Valdes encountered a person much more powerful than the strongest drug lord, someone who offered something more satisfying than women, drugs, money, prestige, or power.

Told he would never be anything but a twice convicted drug dealer, Dr. Jorge Valdes, walked out of prison in and moved to Wheaton, Illinois where he earned a Master’s degree from Wheaton College, and became an adjunct professor in the Bible department. After Wheaton College, Dr. Valdes earned a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies, from Loyola University in Chicago, where he was awarded the prestigious Hispanic Theological Initiative Scholarship as one of the top Hispanic Students in America, two years in a row. In Dr. Valdes married the love of his life, Sujey Valdes, to whom he has now been married to for 23 years. In , Dr. Valdes, wrote his first book “Coming Clean,” published by Random House/Water brook Press. Jorge Valdez (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 27 de enero de ibídem, 21 de febrero de ) era el nombre artístico de Leo Mario Vitale, que fue un cantor dedicado al género del tango durante más de 50 años en su país, recordándose especialmente su etapa como cantor de la orquesta de Juan D'Arienzo. Supo lucirse en la década del 80 en el recordado programa Grandes Valores del Tango con la conducción única e irrepetible de Silvio Soldan junto a Rosanna Falasca , Jorge Falcón y Beba Bidart entre tantos artistas.
