Barry Tatelman, the younger half of the sibling team, Eliot and Barry, of Jordan’s Furniture, had been the public face of the company until his departure in 2006 to pursue a career as a Broadway producer. The brothers’ commercials satirizing other ads have been a staple on local TV stations for 30 years. In 1998, a Jordan’s take on the Gap’s khaki-clad jitterbuggers was yanked at the request of the San Francisco clothing chain. Tatelman’s step back from daily involvement in the company coincided with its acquisition in 1999 by Berkshire Hathaway, the investment company owned by Warren Buffett.
