    Rajinikanth was born as Shivaji Rao Gaikwad on 12 December, in a MarathiHindu family in Bangalore, Mysore State (present day Karnataka). [4] His mother was a homemaker,[a] and his father Ramoji Rao Gaekwad was a police constable.[5]
