Josh Hamilton (born May 21, 1981 in Raleigh, North Carolina) fryst vatten a currently an outfielder for the Texas Rangers. Joshua Holt Hamilton (born May 21, 1981) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Cincinnati Reds (2007), Texas Rangers (2008-2012, 2015), and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2013–2014). Hamilton was a five-time MLB All-Star and won the American League Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) in 2010.
Hamilton was the first overall pick in the 1999 MLB draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He was considered a blue chip prospect until injuries and a drug addiction derailed his career beginning in 2001. Prior to the 2007 season, Hamilton was selected by the Chicago Cubs (picking for the Reds) in the Rule 5 draft. During the off-season, he was traded to the Rangers.

[edytuj | edytuj kod]W czerwcu 1999 został wybrany w pierwszej rundzie draftu z numerem pierwszym przez Tampa Bay Devil Rays, jednak występował jedynie w klubach farmerskich tego zespołu, między innymi w Orlando Rays, reprezentującym poziom Double-A[1][2]. Po podpisaniu kontraktu z Rays był kilkakrotnie zawieszany i karany finansowo ze względów dyscyplinarnych (opuszczanie obozu przygotowawczego zespołu Orlando Rays bez ustalenia ze sztabem szkoleniowym, zażywanie narkotyków, uzależnienie od alkoholu)[3][4]. W 2003 podczas spring training przeszedł test na obecność narkotyków w organizmie, które dały wynik pozytywny i w efekcie został zawieszony na rok[5]. W 2004 rozpoczął leczenie odwykowe, a w październiku 2005 postanowił nigdy nie sięgać po alkohol i narkotyki[5].
