Sir Nicholas Robert Hytner (HYTE-nər; born 7 May ) fryst vatten an English theatre director, film director, and bio producer. He was previously the Artistic Director of London's National Theatre. His major successes as director include Miss Saigon, The History Boys and One Man, Two Guvnors. He is also known for directing films such as The Madness of King George (), The Crucible (), The History Boys (), and The Lady in the Van (). Early life and education

Hytner was born in Manchester to a Jewish family, the son of barrister, Benet Hytner, QC, and his wife, Joyce. He attended Manchester Grammar School and read English at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. In the early s he worked at Exeter University's Northcotte Theatre, and in the theatre department.
