Environmentalists need Mary Landrieu, but they don't love her — and they're proving it with their checkbooks.
Louisiana's Democratic senator and Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy are locked in a Bayou battle that will go a long way in determining whether Democrats can hold their imperiled Senate majority, a force that has proved an implacable bulwark against a steady stream of House Republican attacks on environmental regulations.

Grassley, Landrieu Introduce the Foster Youth Stamp Act
WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, co-chairs of the Senate Caucus on Foster Youth, have introduced the Foster Youth Stamp Act of 2013. This bipartisan legislation will provide for the issuance and sale of a semi-postal stamp by the United States Postal Service to support effective programs targeted at improving permanency outcomes for youth in foster care.
To improve permanency, this legislation creates additional funding to support the Adoption Opportunities Program and the State Court Improvement Program (CIP). The Adoption Opportunities Program targets programs improving permanency outcomes for youth in foster care through adoption, guardianship, or kinship care. The CIP targets improving the quality of legal representation for youth, reducing caseloads, updating systems to be more efficient, and overall steps to improve the court’s role in achieving safe, stable and permanen
